Through social media, progressive activism, political polarisation and rampant individualism, young Jews around Australia are grappling with the relevance of their Jewish roots. When humanistic values are so powerful in shaping individual behaviour, it can feel as though there is little room left for Jewish identity as a guiding force in young people’s lives. But this does not have to be the case. By revisiting the powerful history of youth movements, reformulating our conception of Jewish identity and reshaping Jewish institutions, we can reclaim the participation of young people in our beautiful religion, tradition, and culture
